Recently I used the knee jerk response, "you are the company that you keep" and reflected on this overused statement.
In starting a new career in hospital chaplaincy I have been struggling with feelings of unworthiness. Who am I to act as a representative of Christ? Then I got to thinking, I am the company that I keep.
The company that I keep is good company. These are competent, good-hearted, accomplished individuals who function personally and professionally with the greatest integrity. These individuals of whom I esteem highly count me as their friend. How humbling.
The next time that I feel overwhelmed with feelings of "who am I?".
I am the company that I keep.
